ABDSM Certification Guidelines

NOTE: The ABDSM will accept the AADSM Mastery Program as a pathway to certification in 2019. Details will be included in the 2019 certification guidelines, available in late-May 2018.

Earning certification as a Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine (ABDSM) is an important way to demonstrate your clinical knowledge and experience in the provision of oral appliance therapy for the treatment of snoring and obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). The certification process involves the completion of a computer-based examination and the submission of case studies, which can be submitted after you pass the exam.

Prerequisite qualifications to sit for the examination include a valid dental license, continuing education hours in dental sleep medicine, observation hours at a sleep center, and letters of recommendation from board-certified sleep physicians.
